Explore, engage, and contribute to the next phase of our climate emergency plan.
We are excited to partner with Climate Action Durham for the launch of Durham County Council’s third Climate Emergency Response Plan (CERP3). This pivotal event offers a unique opportunity to dive deep into the climate action initiatives shaping our county over the next three years, and we invite you to be an integral part of it.
What to expect from the session?
We have pulled together everything you need to know and more about our upcoming CERP3, which will run from 2024 to 2027. CERP3 will follow on from the current CERP2 document which outlines the strategies and actions we are taking across various themes to combat climate change both relating to council and countywide emissions.
The evening will feature interactive panel discussions with experts covering critical topics such as:
- Heat and energy
- Biodiversity
- Food and waste
- Engagement
- Transport
Each panel will not only inform but invite your questions and insights.
Your opinion matters to us, we highly value your input and perspective. While we can take necessary steps, meaningful change cannot be achieved without your, and our partners help.
By attending, you will contribute significantly to our efforts, enabling us to address critical questions and come together as a community to tackle climate change.
What to expect from the new Climate emergency response plan?
We are committed to reach net zero by 2030 with an 80% carbon reduction to our emissions, as well as working with partners and communities to achieve a carbon neutral County Durham by 2045.
The CERP3 will share everything you need to know about different themes within climate change, how we are dealing with them from a council and county-wide perspective, and an action plan detailing our ongoing projects will be available to view too.
Alongside the CERP3 we are rolling out a 12 month plan for our communications, updates to our website and related pages, and a fun new refresh for Climate County Durham.
