Empowering County Durham’s Businesses for a Sustainable Future

We are working with Business Durham on this years Get Set Green event, sponsored by the Durham Business Growth Programme, to bring together businesses across County Durham.

Businesses play a huge part in our fight against climate change, from procedures, products, vehicles, there are many different aspects that can influence the carbon emissions of your organisation. We have a countywide target of a net zero county by 2045, but we cannot do this without support from our local businesses and residents. This event can help inspire entrepreneurs to take steps and reach this goal.

February is the month we focus on the Climate Emergency Response 3 theme of Business, Green Economy and Skills, and the exhibition forms part of the efforts made to raise awareness and provide opportunities of knowledge sharing and taking action. This chapter focuses on developing knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes that are important to develop sustainable businesses and efficient society.

If you are part of, or own, a business in county Durham this is one you will not want to miss. The event will focus on inspiring local businesses to take a step toward environmental sustainability and showcase the best that County Durham has on offer towards net zero and sustainability.

What to expect?

The event is aiming to promote best practice for businesses, share top tips, and support our growing community of businesses as well as inspire others to take the steps towards sustainability through workshops and exhibitions.

This is a great opportunity to explore exhibit zones showcasing business who are already leading the way in sustainability and net zero technologies. From renewable energy specialists to business support networks, you will have the chance to get expert advice and guidance during the event. Durham Business Growth have supplied a full list of exhibitors on their website.

Attendees can also take advantage of Net Zero Meet the Buyer segment at the event and connect with industry leaders and potential partners.

Throughout the event there will be seminars on offer for you to sign up to on the day. These will cover key sustainability topics, including renewable energy, biodiversity net gain, and strategies for accelerating the green transition. With sessions led by industry experts and local organisations such as Northern PowerGrid, Durham University and Power Roll.

How can you sign up?

There is so much to look forward too with this event. If you own, or are part of, a local business wanting to improve practices and sustainability, the event will be a huge resource and is not to be missed.
