Learn, Engage, and Act for Our Children’s Future and Planet

Get ready for Net Zero Week 2024. From July 6th to 12th, join the fourth annual event filled with engaging and educational webinars designed to inspire action against climate change.

What is Net Zero?

Net zero is our collective goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to as close to zero as possible. This helps our environment absorb the remaining emissions naturally through peatlands, forests, and oceans.

Climate change is a pressing threat to our environment and the whole planet. Reducing emissions is essential for preserving the environment, protecting nature, and ensuring a safe future for coming generations. The UK aims to achieve net zero by 2050, with a more ambitious target of 2045 for some regions including our own beautiful county. Reaching these targets is a massive challenge that requires everyone’s effort no matter how big or small it may be.

About Net Zero Week

lungs made with leaves and branchesNet Zero Week is the UK’s largest net zero conference. This year, it will host webinars from 8 to 10 July, featuring diverse topics and special guests from the Energy Institute, Net Zero North East England, and the Open University.

“It is people who matter, who make changes, who invest, who make plans, who inspire, who solve big problems, who collaborate.”

Knowledge, education, and action are key steps towards achieving net zero. Events like Net Zero Week are vital in the fight against climate change.

How Can You Get Involved?

Visit the Net Zero Week website to learn more and register for this year’s conference. Registration is free, but spaces are limited, so sign up early. The sessions will cover themes such as business and industry, the energy economy, and sustainable communities.

You can also take personal steps to reduce your carbon emissions:

  • Reduce Energy Use: Switch to energy-efficient appliances and consider renewable energy sources for your home.
  • Sustainable Transportation: Use public transport, cycle, walk, or switch to an electric vehicle.
  • Mindful Consumption: Reduce waste, recycle, and choose sustainable products.

Making these changes can help us reach our net zero targets and save you money in the long run.

Participating in Net Zero Week is a significant step you can take to reduce your emissions and contribute to a healthier environment. Join us in leading the charge for climate action.
