What We and Partners Are Doing

We are leading on and supporting several energy and carbon-related initiatives and programmes across County Durham. These include:

  • support for businesses and organisations through the Business Energy Efficiency Project
  • free training and funding for new woodlands – landowners, farmers and small holders can access a package of practical and financial support to increase tree coverage in areas of County Durham
  • leading the climate change fight through a series of initiatives across the county

You can read our latest climate change news around the initiatives and programmes or visit the climate emergency page for more detailed information around the Climate Emergency Response Plan (CERP).

We are also working closely with our partners – County Durham Partnership and Durham Community Action – to deliver a series of initiatives which are helping residents, communities and businesses across County Durham make changes that will improve our environment, lower carbon emissions and save them money.
