The Eco-Church Team at St Mary’s Parish Church, Barnard Castle are organising a fair on Sunday 7 November to celebrate creation and work for effective action on climate change. The event is timed to coincide with the major COP26 conference in Glasgow.
The aim is to have a participative event in which people can express their concerns and hopes for the future. It will be a drop-in for the whole community. The fair will be in the parish hall from noon till 4pm with activities, stalls, learning opportunities for adults and children and prayers.
Lunch will be available between 12 and 2pm. At 4pm there will be a final act of worship in the church. There will be opportunities for discovering your own carbon footprint and what the UK can do to reach net zero provided by the Worldwide Fund for Nature. There will be resources and contributions about renewable energy from Durham University, with working models; Oxfam and local schools showcasing children’s work.
