Community Initiatives

Community initiatives bring people together under a common cause, delivering change and support tailored to their local community needs. These initiatives are embedded in the community and are key to improving people’s wellbeing, health, and the environment along with a multitude of other social benefits.

It is pivotal that community groups act locally to support raising awareness of the impact climate change is having and supporting their community in becoming more sustainable and reduce their carbon emissions.

Having specific environment, sustainability and carbon reduction focused initiatives will greatly support everyone do their bit in becoming a carbon neutral county.

These could entail anything from sustainable travelling, growing community gardens and orchards to litter picking days and wider engagement activities. Every little action contributes, every little consideration and positive change regarding our environment is a step in the right direction.

Some initiatives could include campaigning to support behavioural change, reducing energy used in buildings, local solutions for sustainability and energy access.
