Active Travel

What active travel is

You might be forgiven for thinking it sounds like hard work, but it really is not.

If you’re popping to pick the kids up from school or nipping to the convenience store for a couple of bits and pieces, do you need to go in the car? Or is it close and easy enough to perhaps walk or cycle? On a weekend, instead of jumping in the car to go for a walk, why not pick a scenic route to walk or cycle?

Think about it. How many journeys to you make every day in the car which are within walking or cycling distance? I bet you’ll be surprised.

This is where a travel plan helps – map out your typical journeys and where possible, switch to an ‘active travel’ option. For a few very simple changes, you could see real benefits to your finances and health whilst doing your bit to improve the environment and lower carbon emissions.
