The Festival of Thrift invites you to a rewarding volunteer opportunity that supports both the community and the planet.
The Festival of Thrift is returning once again for their 12th year running and they have so much for locals to get involved with and enjoy. However, they need your help to ensure the day runs smoothly and assist attendees.
What is the Festival of Thrift?
The Festival of Thrift is a spectacular free weekend celebration of sustainability, creativity and community spirit. It will be taking place in late September on the 21st and 22nd of September in Billingham town centre.
The event is filled with a mix of performances, live music and talks alongside stalls selling food, drink and goods from ethical traders. With a focus on sustainability and action against climate change, there are lots of activities available from workshops to sustainable stallholders.
What can you do to help?
They are searching for volunteers to help the day run efficiently and bring more of County Durham residents to the centre of the event.
‘We want to work alongside people who share our values and our sense of fun so why not join our festival this year as one of our amazing Volunteers!’
Volunteering is empowering and appreciated. If you choose to volunteer at the Festival of Thrift you would be:
- Welcoming and guiding attendees to the event as well as assisting with any access requirements.
- Assisting event managers in supporting performers and speakers before, during, and after their sessions.
- Providing assistance across the site as needed by artists, performers, speakers, or attendees throughout the day.
- Helping event managers with changeovers, moving furniture, signage, and equipment in the Talks Tent to accommodate the guest panels and speakers.
- Supporting artists and makers with workshop preparations.
- Assisting workshop attendees before and during the sessions.
- And more…
There are tonnes of benefits to taking part. By volunteering you will have the opportunity to be at the centre of the festival and all activities, have fun, meet new people, and be part of a team, connect with and support your community. As well as build confidence, gain knowledge, learn new skills, and be inspired to share them, and learn some useful Thrifty Tips for living more sustainably. Volunteering is also a great way to boost your CV.
This is an amazing opportunity to get involved with your community and climate action. If this has peaked your interest and you are considering signing up you can find out more on the tees valley festival volunteering website.
