A Thoughtful Nod To Earth This Christmas

Published on Thu 19 Dec 2024

Amid the twinkle of lights so bright,

let’s think of earth this festive season,

for in the cheer and joy we find,

a chance to leave no waste behind.

The feast is spread, the table’s grand,

but pause before the foods in hand,

prepare and take just enough, let nothing spoil,

respect earth for its produce and give thought to farmers for their care, their toil.

Create and wrap gifts with love, but choose with care,

opt for paper, and recycle materials avoid plastic snare.

A ribbon reused, a fabric repurposed, a box reborn,

gives hope to our environment, a new lease for life.

Switch off the lights when sleep draws near,

The stars will sparkle bright and clear.

LEDs glow with softer hue,

saving power and money for you.

Instead of flights to lands afar,

explore your district, no need for a car.

A winter walk, the air so crisp and clean,

can weave new magic in the scene.

The Christmas tree so proud and tall,

could it be potted, not cut to fall?

Or crafted from wood, a clever feat,

to make this season’s joy complete.

Create, recycle, reuse, let nothing stray,

from Christmas Eve to New Years Day,

the planets health, our gift so true,

depends on actions taken by you.

And as the year turns, a promise keep,

to guard the oceans wide and deep.

Treasure forests, fields, and skies,

a greener world is the greatest prize.

So deck the halls with mindful cheer,

and make it green this joyful year.

For love of Earth, our home, our world, our grace,

let’s cherish and protect this place.
