Let your Garden Grow: No Mow May

We are coming to the end of May and with that ends this year’s No Mow May campaign.

If you missed our previous article, No Mow May is an annual campaign that was started by PlantLife to tackle the decline in flower-rich meadows, by challenging people to avoid taking out their lawnmowers for a whole month.

Thousands of people took part in No Mow May, choosing to let their garden grow to encourage a healthy lawn, providing food for local wildlife and tackling climate change by locking carbon below ground.

No Mow May is not just an opportunity to take action against climate change; it is also a chance to create stunning and ecologically diverse spaces filled with breath-taking wildflowers. And the beauty of it is that the benefits don’t have to end in May. Reducing to occasional trims or maintaining the wildly enriched gardens can leave your garden looking amazing for the rest of the year as well as creating a carbon sink outside your home.

We have loved receiving images of your gardens (as shown below) showcasing the growth and transformation of gardens that have embraced the No Mow May movement.

Sharing your achievements will not only inspire others to join in but also shares the amazing results of your dedication to encouraging a thriving ecosystem within your own backyard. Together, let’s create a lasting impact and pave the way for a greener future.
