How is this related to climate change?
Food is one of the biggest emitters when it comes to greenhouse gases. Food amounts to an astonishing 26% of global emissions, 58% of that being animal products. Events like this showcase the value of local suppliers from delicious take-aways to farmers markets and stores.
There are many suppliers attending that harness the power of meatless meals and whip up stunning dishes that do not include any animal products. Meat production is responsible for 60% of food emissions. Plant-based diets generally require fewer resources, produce fewer greenhouse gases, and contribute to lower land and water usage compared to meat-based diets.
Local suppliers sell products that have not had to travel therefore they use less resources, less food miles and less packaging. You can read more about plastic waste due to food in our previous article.
How to get there?
