Making connections and sharing our action is a big part of tackling climate change
On Friday 28 July, we hosted an event to launch our new Climate County Durham Facebook page and connect with our community to share local action. Our event was attended by many people from many different backgrounds, a range of ages, personalities, and professions, but all with one common interest: to take climate action.
Why Facebook?
Facebook and social media platforms in general are very popular, The Social Shepard claims that in 2022, 66% of the country’s total population was on Facebook, and that could be even more today. It is important to us that we reach a wide audience and connect with people across County Durham, and even the world, to share our climate action and encourage positive change.
We have so much we want to share and we want to celebrate and encourage local action from everyone including businesses, community groups, schools, youth and residents. So having our own platform helps us reach audiences with common interest helping us share interesting content daily.
Share your story
‘Share your story’ was the theme of our event. We want to encourage people from all backgrounds, from residents to business owners to share their climate action. People empower other people. It is important that we shout out our action, big or small, to show everyone the difference we can make when we work together.
We want to share your action and see County Durham’s residents sparking inspiration in each other. We know a lot of people are doing wonderful things in their homes, gardens, adapting their lifestyles to help the environment and we want to hear and share more of these examples. So please, if you have a story (even if it is your cycle journey or how you’ve adapted something small in your daily routine), get in touch.
We surpassed our first milestone of 100 followers, and this is just the beginning. We need your help to spread the word, keep updated by following our page, and if you share your action, you will see your story on the page and even on our website too.
